The official launch of the Milton Keynes
German Doner Kebab store in 12th Street was on Sunday 10th
February and they certainly laid on a splendid do.
star striker Chuks Aneke was there to sign autographs and pose for
selfies. Free kebabs were served between
1 pm and 3 pm and there was an in-store DJ.
The store was jam-packed with a long queue out of the door and a great vibe
Sunday was by no means my first visit to German Doner Kebab. I have being going there regularly since they opened in November 2018 and would now count myself as something of a GDK addict. GDK state that they “provide a healthy and nutritionally balanced approach to traditional kebabs, offering produce containing lean meat and low saturated fats”.
say that the meat in a GDK does indeed look less fatty than a traditional
kebab. GDK offer a choice of beef or
chicken, or you can mix both meats. If
you choose just chicken, this has to be lower fat than a traditional lamb kebab
filling. Health aspects aside, did I
mention they taste really moreish? I also
really like the GDK bread wrap, which is quite different to pitta bread. There are meat-free options on the menu and if you are not
sure about the sauces, you can ask to have them served separately, so you can
try them out.
The MK German
Doner Kebab is in a great location. It’s ideal if you are going out somewhere
in 12th Street, or if you want to take a break from shopping at
centre:mk. I also found it was handy for lunch when I was working in CMK.
Doner Kebab has always been doing a brisk trade when I have been there, with
lots of people coming in for takeaways, as well as folks eating on the premises. Also useful to note: it is next door to Kaspa’s
Desserts if you fancy going on a food crawl as an alternative to a pub crawl!
