Santa’s Grotto in Middleton Hall is now open and it’s full of festive sparkle.
There is a lot packed in apart from the giant igloo housing Santa and his helpers. The carousel, helter-skelter, Christmas cabins, snow dome, the train, glittery tunnels, and lots of animatronic beasties are all there.
The Christmas cabins are in a straight line down one side this year, opening out towards the front of John Lewis. There are also a few other retail opportunities, as well as the cabins. There is a cheese stall next to Pret, and a couple of barrows with sweets, popcorn, candy floss and mulled wine in the centre of the display. The retail pod has also been incorporated, although there was no-one using it when I was there.
The winter wonderland with all its cute animals looks lovely. I think there might be a chance of the life-size animatronic polar bear upstaging Santa. (The bear is free to look at!)
If you are making a visit to Santa, it will include a session to decorate a gingerbread biscuit with Santa’s Chef Ginger-Snaps. You can read all the details about this and make a booking online. Note that Santa is not available from 12th to 16th November.
If you are wondering about the prices have a look at some of these notices.
